The Global Law Deans’ Forum will take place at the University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Law and Administration in Gdańsk, Poland. The forum is open to both Member and Non-Member (active and emeritus) Deans, Vice Deans, Associate Deans, and law school leaders from law schools and departments. The forum begins with a welcome dinner on Wednesday, September 18, followed by a full meeting day on Thursday, September 19, and a final half meeting day on Friday, September 20.

THEME

The theme for 2019 is The Role of Law and the Rule of Law – Rethinking Legal Education, and is a continuation of the discussion’s from the 2019 Regional Law Deans’ Fora. We are eager to explore this theme and to continue exchanging ideas that will advance legal education. These workshops serve to distill and focus regional perspectives on legal education. This is an opportunity for you to engage with law school leaders to develop a critical set of issues and proposals in developing a global approach to the challenges facing legal education today. We will concentrate on three areas: 1) Setting and Implementing Standards, 2) Teaching Challenging, Controversial and/or Sensitive Subject Matter within the framework of rational legal discourse, and 3) Administrative Challenges for Law School Leadership in a rapidly evolving educational dynamic.
